When we meet with teens, our opening question is often, “How did you see God this week?”
We are usually met with silence (the good type) as kids take the time to reflect back on their week. After a moment, the stories start flowing.
“I saw this awesome sunset!”
“Yesterday I spent some time with a friend I haven’t seen in a while.”
“My friend got in an accident, but the Lord protected her because it could have been way worse.”
Our favorite is when stories remind other students of stories that they have- “oh yeah! That reminds me, last week…”
As students learn to look for God in their stories, they are strengthening their relationship with Him. He’s not some grumpy old guy looking over their shoulder, He is the living God who is becoming apart of their lives.
The best part is that when they’ve trained their eye to see God in the past, they are way quicker to spot Him in the present. They see where He is working, at school, at work, at home, etc, and they have the opportunity to join him.
